Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: How do I qualify for the A+, Golden Griffon and Alumni scholarships?
A: You must complete the Competitive Scholarship Application by March 1 (February 1 for the $7,500 Golden Griffon Scholarship) to qualify for these scholarships.
Q: What is a six-semester transcript?
A: Your six-semester transcript is what your transcript looks like at the end of your junior year. When you apply early, this is the transcript Missouri Western needs in order to make an admission decision. A final transcript will be required upon graduation from high school.
Q: What happens if I re-take the ACT?
A: Missouri Western will always take your highest score for both admission and automatic scholarships, even though it may not be your most recent. You can never hurt yourself by retaking the ACT.
Q: When will I know my housing assignment?
A: Your housing assignment will be available through the Student Life tab in your Goldlink account. You will also get your assignment during your New Student Registration program.
Q: Can I pick my roommate?
A: Yes, you can request your roommate by providing their legal first name, middle name and last name. They must do the same when submitting their application. These are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis and there are no guarantees.
Q: How do I apply for jobs on campus?
A: All on-campus and off-campus student employment positions are managed by the GriffonLink system. Both on-campus and off-campus employment opportunities are posted to the site. Many of the on-campus positions require that students have Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package. You can access the GriffonLink system through your Goldlink portal.
Q: What types of jobs are available?
A: There are a variety of on-campus jobs. You can work in the library, fitness center, dining hall, food court, recreation services or one of the computer labs (just to name a few). If office work is more your style, most every office on campus hires student workers, including some professors and even the President.
Q: Does Missouri Western offer intramural sports?
A: Yes. Even if you aren’t a NCAA athlete you can stay active through our intramural programs. You can participate in a variety of different activities such as: badminton, basketball, broomball, disc golf, dodge ball, dominoes, flag football, powder puff football, racquetball, sand volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball and washers.
Q: Are scholarships stackable?
A: Yes. Scholarships do stack. Missouri Western has gold-level scholarships and discover-level scholarships. Gold scholarships do not stack with other gold scholarships, but discover scholarships stack with gold and other discover-level scholarships.
Q: Will my dual credit courses in high school transfer to Missouri Western?
A: Yes. You must submit official transcripts from each college/university from which you have credit.
