I’ve been accepted! What’s next?
Please review this guide for new international students. Following these steps will ensure a smooth, safe, and timely arrival at Missouri Western State University.

Let us know if you have not received or made arrangements to receive the acceptance packet and/or the I-20 document (or DS-2019) from the Office of Admissions. Please email global@missouriwestern.edu for assistance.

- Each student has an ID number; it is known as the G number at Missouri Western
- The ID number is located on the admission letter
- The number starts with the letter G and followed by 8 digits
- Each student has a login or username to access his/her University records through GoldLink.
- Students receive the username and the temporary password listed on the admission letter
- If the information is not available on the admission letter, please send an email to Global@missouriwestern.edu to request the username and temporary password. Trained staff is happy to help you

To enhance academic success, Missouri Western State University requires first year students and exchange students to reside in University Housing for the first two (2) Semester, unless they meet at least one of the following criteria for exception. Please see On-Campus Housing Waiver
Here are the housing options for new students. Graduate (masters) students are welcome and invited to live in Vartabedian Hall on campus too. There are advantages to living on campus including safety, security and convenience.
- Applying for Campus Housing
- Private off-campus housing (apartment or house)
- Students are responsible for locating, leasing and signing the appropriate private housing, individually or in a group
- Due to liability issues, the university cannot recommend nor provide arrangement with any particular apartment management.

You may find the following information helpful:
ACT/SAT are NOT required for International Admissions. However, if you have very satisfied ACT/SAT scores, Please send official results through:
- ACT: org and use our college code of 2344
- SAT: The College Board and use our college code of 6625

All Students:
- Submit a Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Questionnaire.
- The system requires 9-digit student ID number which begins with the letter G (refer to the admission offer letter.)
- Please note that TB blood test performed outside of the U.S. will NOT be accepted
- Additionally, students who have ever had a positive tuberculin skin test, must submit a physician signed chest x-ray report with their health and immunizations records, prior to move-in to confirm the absence of active disease
Students living on campus residence hall:
- Receive Meningococcal (MCV4 or MPSVR) immunization upon arrival, or provide official health documentation to the University Health Center prior to arrival.
IMPORTANT: Student who is not yet 18 years old when he/she step foot on campus will be required to complete and submit an additional form called the Consent to Treat a Minor form. The form MUST be co-signed by parents or legal guardians. According to the U.S. law, the university Health Center cannot provide health care to under-age students without written permission from parents or legal guardian.

- Make Travel Arrangements
- The Office of Global Engagement offers Free Airport Pick up on the following days for specific student populations:
- Undergraduate F-1 Students: Sunday
- Exchange J-1 Students and Scholars: Monday
- Graduate F-1 Students: Tuesday
- Request Free Airport Pick Up
- Please share your arrival information
- Students arriving on dates other than those listed above or traveling with a parent/guardian are expected to arrange their own transportation. The average cost for an airport shuttle is $80 plus 10%-15% service tips.
- Uber on-demand service is generally available from the MCI airport to St Joseph, Missouri. Expect a minimum cost of $50 plus tips.
- Some Uber drivers may cancel ride requests due to distance from the airport.
- Direct taxi or Uber driver to take you to the University student residence Commons Building for the Residence Hall check-in process.
- Mandatory International Student Orientation Schedule

- The Office of Global Engagement offers a mandatory new student orientation for international students the week before the start of class each fall (August) and spring (January) semester. See the Academic Calendar here.
- International Orientation is an all-inclusive experience built with international students’ needs in mind. We meet you at the airport, get you to our campus and to your room, and have sessions designed to help you successfully start your educational journey at Missouri Western State University.
