Freshmen participating in the Griffon Edge program will move into the residence halls from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22. Griffon Edge events begin that evening through Sunday, Aug 26. Returning and upper-class students can move in anytime from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Aug. 22-26. Griffon Greeters will be on hand during move-in hours to help welcome new students as well as give directions and answer any questions you or your student may have. Welcome floor meetings will be held for all residence halls directly before the New Student Convocation on Sunday Aug 26. Look for signs in your residence halls for details!

Nathan Roberts, director of Residential Life, suggests that students bring the fewest items they think they will need before their first trip home. Move-in day will be a very busy, hot, long day.  Students can always bring things back after their first trip home, when fewer people are trying to move into the residence halls at the same time.

Additionally, students are encouraged to contact their roommates before move-in day. They can determine who is bringing a t.v., mini fridge and other common items, as well as break the ice before meeting in person.

Above all, Roberts said he encourages students to meet people, go to programs and meetings and get out of their comfort zone. The more a student gets involved on campus, the more accustomed they will become to college life and the better experience they will have.
