In an effort to further Missouri Western’s commitment to supporting veterans and active-duty military, all veterans and active-duty military and their spouses and dependents will be eligible for in-state tuition at Missouri Western, regardless of their residency. This is effective beginning with the fall 2018 semester.

Missouri Western also recently expanded its admissions requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Technology (BST) degree so that veterans and active-duty military can use 30 credits from military training as the base for a BST. Those 30 credits would fulfill 25 percent of the BST requirements.

In the past year, the University was also recognized by the Air Force as a General Education Mobile university, a partnership that means members of the Air Force can take general education courses online through Missouri Western to earn their Associate in Applied Science degree from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).

Missouri Western also became an Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) University.

As a member of the AU-ABC, Missouri Western now offers a 100-percent online BST to members of the Air Force. Members can transfer in their CCAF degrees or other military credit to use as the base of the BST degree.

The University’s military-friendly efforts also include offering general education courses on site at a nearby air base to members of the 139th Airlift Wing in St. Joseph.

Missouri Western was again recognized as a Military Friendly University by militaryfriendly.com in November 2017.  The designation is based on an annual evaluation of its efforts to provide military-affiliated students with a variety of services and educational options.
