The residence halls will close for the fall semester on Sunday, Dec. 17. Students who are not graduating will need to leave their residence halls 24 hours after their last final, no later than noon on Sunday, Dec. 17. Graduating seniors will need to be checked out of their residence halls by their Resident Assistants. All students will receive an email from their Residence Hall Director with guidelines for leaving for the winter break and for moving out of the residence halls.

Students who are moving out of the residence halls are asked to leave their rooms as clean as they found them when they moved in. Students who are returning in the spring semester are expected to also clean their rooms, take out the trash and unplug any appliances before leaving for the break.

Vacation housing is available for students who are not able to return home for the break. Students interested in vacation housing need to fill out a vacation housing form that will be available at the Commons front desk. The vacation housing rate is $85 per week.

Throughout the break, there will be a Resident Assistant on duty and professional staff coverage, and all buildings will be locked. Dining services on campus will be closed for the break, but each building has a community kitchen and each suite in Griffon Hall has a full kitchen. Please remind your student that policies, procedures and the student code of conduct still apply during the break.

We hope this doesn’t apply to anyone, but we understand that life happens: if a student is planning on withdrawing from the University, please make sure that they speak with the Registrar’s Office and visit our Contracts Office in the Commons Building to cancel the remaining portion of their housing contract.

The residence halls will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. Your student can direct any questions regarding the break closing to their Resident Assistant or Residence Hall Director. We sincerely hope that all of our students and their families have a safe and refreshing break. Happy holidays!
