Living on campus has many benefits and conveniences for the student of today. Close proximity to class, ample parking, modern facilities, cost-controlled utilities, flexible dining hours, social opportunities and the ability to connect quickly to campus resources are just a few of the more popular reasons to live on campus.  However, the one benefit that doesn’t get near as much publicity is the transitional experience.

Your student is leaving the “nest” at home where they have had support and mentorship 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And often, leaving that supportive environment comes with growing pains as your student learns to navigate daily life in a new environment. The residence hall is a controlled setting where students experience living with another student, tackling the dangers of washing light and dark laundry, becoming a microwave gourmet chef, mastering the balance of study/work/social life and all the little things living on a college campus can throw at you.

We at Residential Life understand this time of transition causes stress and anxiety for your student and for you. We know you want to fix all their problems, dry all their tears, and share in all their joys and successes as they work toward becoming an independent and educated member of society. Now, as the parent of a college student, you can help encourage them with wisdom on managing their daily lives and solving problems in an environment that is built to support this transformational time.

To help your student through this transition we have 24-hour front desks to monitor the facilities and are available for questions. We have Resident Assistants to mentor your student, keep the facility quiet and studious, provide programs to entertain, educate, and socialize. And we have Residence Hall Directors who are full-time professional staff members who have achieved a master’s degree and chosen Residential Life as a career path. They are adept at counseling, conduct management, leadership, and all the developmental needs your student has during their time living with us.
