Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens from one of the states below may be eligible for the Griffon Rate waiver. This waiver covers the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition – that’s a savings of nearly 50%!
The Griffon Rate waiver includes:

- New Mexico
- Oklahoma
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Wyoming
Students who qualify for the waiver are not eligible to receive the Midwest Student Exchange Scholarship. Students are eligible for all other automatic and competitive scholarships for which they qualify. Undergraduate students who are US citizens from the above states may qualify for admission to Missouri Western State University under the Griffon Rate and be eligible to pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. In accordance with the University housing policy, entering first-year students, as classified by the Office of Admissions, must reside in university-operated residence halls for their first two semesters to receive the Griffon Rate Waiver beginning fall of 2024.
