Housing & Residence Life has been busy the past few weeks as they prepare for a safe return to campus. Move-in will occur from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 16, 17, and 18. Students must sign-up for an appointment time at https://www.missouriwestern.edu/reslife.

When they arrive on campus during their move-in appointment time, they will head directly to their building. Once at their building, a member of the Residence Life staff will screen them for COVID-19 by taking their temperature and asking them a few COVID-19 related questions.

If they fail the screening or have developed symptoms during their trip to campus, staff will direct them to Blum Union to take a COVID-19 rapid test at no charge. They will not be permitted to return to their room if their test comes back positive. Instead, staff will direct them to quarantine at their permanent residence (preferred) or a designated on-campus quarantine location. Only students who fail the COVID-19 screening will take a COVID-19 test. As a reminder, staff will screen all students and anyone assisting during move-in. We ask that students limit the number of helpers they bring with them.

As students return, they will meet two new staff members on the Residence Life team. Nia Estes has been hired as the assistant director of housing and residence life. Previously, she served as a residence life coordinator at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. Liz Thornton has been hired as residence life coordinator of Scanlon Hall. Liz Thornton comes to Missouri Western from McPherson College, in Kansas, where she served as student affairs support staff.

We are excited about what we have planned for the spring and look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus!
