The department of communication was well-represented at the National Communication Association’s 106th annual convention. Originally scheduled to occur in Indianapolis, the convention was moved to a virtual format in light of COVID-19. Dr. David McMahan, professor and first vice president of NCA, was the primary planner of the convention, as well as chaired the Carroll C. Arnold Distinguished Lecture, the Communication at the Crossroads Series, and the NCA welcome and orientation. Dr. McMahan will assume the duties of NCA president at the conclusion of the conference. Dr. Jordan Atkinson, assistant professor, presented three papers at the conference. One of the papers was co-authored with Joy Deatherage (recent MWSU communication graduate and current MBA student at MWSU) and Nicole Bilby (current MWSU communication student). Additionally, Dr. Atkinson chaired the Top Panel of the Instructional Communication Division. He also served on the Convention Committee and as the secretary of the Instructional Communication Division. Dr. Mei Zhang, professor, presented a paper and a panel at NCA, as well as chaired the Top Student Papers in Public Address. Nice job to each of these individuals who represented MWSU well on the national level.
