Applied Learning at MoWest

As Missouri’s official applied learning institution, we are committed to providing 100% of our students with an applied learning experience prior to graduation. At MoWest, applied learning refers to any activity in which students use course content, models, theories and/or skills in real-world and/or hands-on settings to support career readiness. This includes a wide range of opportunities including: field trips, field work, internships, leadership, mentored research, performances, clinical practica, service-learning, student teaching and more.

Fall Multidisciplinary Research Day (MRD) poster showcase is on Dec 4, 2026, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Abstract submission opens on October 28, 2026

The Annual Conference on Applied Learning in Higher Education (CALHE) is from March 19-20, 2027

Registration & abstract submission opens on November 12, 2026 (Registration required to attend/present)

Faculty-led, course-based, study away proposal submission (for 2028 courses)

Proposal submission opens on January 19, 2027

Spring Multidisciplinary Research Day (MRD) poster showcase is on April 16, 2027, from 2:00 to 3:30pm

Abstract submission opens on March 17, 2027
