Wellness Minor

With renewed interest in the health of the nation, burgeoning health costs, and recent developments in preventative and remedial strategies for a variety of lifestyle-related diseases (heart disease, obesity, cancer, osteoporosis, and sexually transmitted diseases), there is a growing need for individuals trained in the field of wellness. A minor in wellness could be especially helpful for students majoring in nursing, recreation sport management, psychology, biology (pre-medicine or pre-physical therapy), or management, or for students who wish to self-implement a wellness program.

Our minors help you explore your interests and further develop your career goals. With five minors, we offer a range of studies so you can enhance your studies with a specialization. Or, pursue secondary interests while you complete your studies.

Declaration Forms & Sample Degrees

Declaring a Minor
A student cannot get a minor in the same area as their major, emphasis, or concentration. Minor coursework must consist of a minimum of four credit hours beyond the student’s major, emphasis, concentration, and general studies requirements.

Requirements for All Minors
To be awarded a minor, an overall GPA of at least 2.0 must be earned in the required minor coursework unless a higher standard is noted for a specific minor program. The same course in a degree minor may be used to fulfill major course requirements unless stated in a major or minor. Substitution courses are not allowed.
