Sarah Fergione knew she had found the right place to finish her college education when she visited the science labs at Missouri Western. Sarah, a senior biochemistry and molecular biology major from Connecticut, loved all the instrumentation she saw in Remington Hall. When she found out she could jump right in and conduct research with professors, she immediately enrolled.

That hands-on experience in the labs and her opportunity to conduct research with faculty helped Sarah secure a three-month internship in laboratories at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston last summer.

She plans to attend graduate school this fall to study biological/biomedical engineering and cancer biology. Is she ready? You bet. Thanks to the labs, her professors and her cutting-edge research, she is more than prepared to take on graduate school, she says.
