How did MoWest help you succeed?
I attended Missouri Western from 2007 through 2011. In 2012, I entered the MWSU Entrepreneurial Program through the Craig School of Business. I was blessed enough to win and be awarded a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Williamsburg, IA. I owned and operated RMCF for four years until I sold it to start my Fifth & Emery company in Kansas City, where I’m from. The mentors and advisors at MWSU were and still are so supportive. They are always there to assist me along my journey. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
What is your fondest memory of MoWest?
During my 4.5 years at Missouri Western, I was honored to play five seasons on the football team. My fondest memories were the camaraderie with my teammates and going to battle with them on the football field. I’m convinced that being an athlete at MWSU prepared me to earn my RMCF business through the Craig School of Business Entrepreneurial Program and led to my 13-years of business ownership.
What advice do you have for current students?
My advice is to not let anyone diminish your dreams. Don’t only think big, but think whatever is larger than that! You can and will achieve great things as long as you give it your all, learn the skills along the way, and keep your eye on the prize. The hope and belief that I was going to achieve my dreams is what kept me going when things got really hard because they did, and they will for you as well. That’s what makes the journey worth it.
