Softball
Congratulations to softball head coach Jen Bagley Trotter on earning her 600th career victory on Saturday, Feb. 2. Bagley Trotter became just the second softball coach in MIAA history to eclipse 600 wins and now is just 14 wins shy of passing Rhesa Sumrell as the winningest softball coach in MIAA history. The milestone victory came in the game against Concordia St. Paul at the Kelly Laas Memorial Invite, when the Griffons rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to win the game.

The team advanced their record to 3-1 with a victory over St. Cloud State later that day. Next up, they play in the Arkansas-Monticello DII Challenge in Bentonville, Arkansas this coming weekend.

Baseball
In baseball action this past weekend, the Griffons played Oklahoma Baptist University in a game on Friday and two on Saturday, ending the weekend at 1-2. They will play in the Henderson State Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas next weekend.

Basketball
Griffon men (10-12, 4-7 MIAA) knocked off Pittsburg State in overtime for a 95-87 win on Saturday, Feb. 2. Lavon Hightower scored 33 points in the game.

Next up is at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7.

The women (10-10, 3-8 MIAA) lost to Pittsburg State although they led for nearly half the game. Katrina Roenfeldt led the field with 20 points, her seventh game of the season with at least 20 points. They play Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 7.

Men’s and women’s basketball returns home Wednesday, Feb. 13 vs. Southwest Baptist and Feb. 16 for both against Central Missouri. The Feb. 16 games are the final home games on the schedule and seniors will be honored.

Additionally, a dedication ceremony will be held on Feb. 16 at half-time of the men’s game to dedicate the court in honor of Tom Smith. A reception will be held in the arena following the men’s game.

Track and Field
At the Mule Relays on Feb. 2, the men’s track and field team had 18 top-10 finishes and one event win. Hunter Scaggs won the high jump, his second win so far in his freshman season, and his fifth top-10 in as many attempts. DeShon Outley improved on his school record in the 60m with a 6.97 that was good for a third-place finish.

The next meet is the Bearcat Invite at Northwest Missouri State on Feb. 8 and 9.
