2020 Census: Be Counted!

The 2020 Census is just around the corner, and we want to make sure you’re counted! Census Day is April 1, and postcards with instructions on how to fill out the Census will be mailed soon. Students living away from home should count themselves at the on-campus or local address where they live and sleep most of the time, meaning if you live on campus or in the area around April 1, you should count that location as your Census address.

Why does the Census matter to you as a college student? The Census counts everyone in the United States, and Census results help determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds is distributed each year to support vital programs in states and communities across the country. These funds shape local health care, housing, education, transportation, employment and public policy.
For the first time, the U.S. Census Bureau will accept responses online. The process will be quick and secure. You can respond to the Census in less time than it takes to finish your morning coffee! If you prefer, you can still respond by mail. Remember that federal law protects your Census responses. Your answers can only be used to produce statistics. Watch for your postcard! #MissouriCounts #2020Census
