• Dave Tushaus, professor of legal studies, published an article in the National University of Study and Research in Law’s Journal of Law and Policy. The article, “Civil Rights Liability in India and the United States: Impact on Government Policies and Procedures,” was co-authored by a student Tushaus taught when he was a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India.
  • The Career Development Center received the Innovative Program Honorable Mention Award from NASPA Region IV-West for its E3, Exemplary Employment Experience initiative. NASPA is a national association for student affairs administrators in higher education.
  • The Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society was named 2014 Student Chapter of the Year for the North Central Section of The Wildlife Society, the sixth time the chapter has won the honor in the seven years it has been eligible.
  • Four students, Abby Sexton, Daniel Brooks, Kayla Mertz and BJ Myers, were selected to sing in the All-Collegiate Honor Choir during the 2015 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. Two hundred singers from 31 Missouri colleges and universities were selected.
  • Recipients of the 2015 Drum Major for Justice Awards are student Bre Watkins, community member Jeanette James and Missouri Western faculty member Dr. Pam Clary.
  • Frank Thomas, retired associate professor of music, was awarded the Missouri Arts Council’s Arts Education Award in February. Thomas was director of choral activities at Missouri Western for 38 years. He is also the founder of the St. Joseph Community Chorus and serves as its director.
  • The following music students placed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas: Thomas Delgado, second and Jacob Mills, third, Music Theatre; Kaitlyn Christian, third and Donovan Jones, third, upper women and men’s divisions.
  • Kristen Neeley, assistant director of admissions-new student experience, was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Orientation, Transition and Retention Professional for Region IV of the National Orientation Directors Association.
