Organization and Purpose
Established in 1975 as a special interest group, the Ambassadors of Missouri Western State University serve as a vital link between the
university and the St. Joseph community. Through activities and programs, Ambassadors strive to increase the community's awareness of the educational, cultural and financial benefits that
Missouri Western brings to the greater St. Joseph area.
Scholarship Programs
The greatest growth in college student populations is among adults who are pursuing educational goals which have been delayed or those who desire to seek new career opportunities. The Ambassadors have selected reentry or
nontraditional students as its primary focus and established a scholarship fund specifically targeted for them.
Since 1989, over $310,000 has been awarded to students. Each year, the Ambassadors hold "Night at the Ritz," to raise funds for scholarships.
Membership Benefits
Membership in the MWSU Ambassadors offers numerous opportunities to each person, such as:
- Personal Development
- Community Networking
- New Friendships
- A chance to learn more about the university
Meetings and Dues
Three general membership luncheon meetings are planned each year. Members are invited to join the Executive Board, which plans the luncheons and the Night at the Ritz.
Dues are $20 per year and are payable each September as the year corresponds with the academic calendar.
