Environmental Health and Safety

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at Missouri Western State University supports a safe, healthy, and compliant campus environment through the coordination of safety programs, regulatory compliance efforts, and operational support services.

EHS programs are carried out in partnership with campus departments and coordinated through Physical Plant operations. The Office of Risk Management supports institutional oversight and compliance coordination by assisting with program alignment, documentation, training guidance, and risk-based recommendations.

EHS Coordinator Responsibilities

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports campus operations by assisting with the implementation and coordination of EHS-related services, including:

  • Hazardous Waste Management (including collection, storage, and regulatory compliance requirements)
  • Chemical Safety Support and hazardous materials coordination
  • Pest Control Coordination (including reporting and vendor support)
  • Indoor Environmental Concerns (air quality concerns, odors, and building-related safety observations)
  • Safety Inspections and Operational Safety Support
  • Coordination of corrective actions with Physical Plant and departments when hazards are identified
  • Support for compliance requirements related to OSHA and applicable safety standards

To report a facility safety issue, request pest control, or submit an operational safety concern, please use the Physical Plant work order system or contact Physical Plant directly.
