Children's Lifetime Sports Academy (Ages 8-12)
2017 Sports Academy
The Children’s Lifetime Sports Academy (CLSA) was started in 1973 at Missouri Western State University (MWSU) to allow participants the opportunity to interact with Faculty and future Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in a fun and non-competitive environment. Our goal is to teach the skills, values and appreciations involved in lifetime sports activities which can be utilized throughout life for fun, health and fitness.
Some of the activities we offer include: Canoeing, Rappelling, Fishing, Archery, Obstacle Course, Pickle Ball, Badminton, Recreational Games, Swimming in the newly renovated Thomas Eagleton Indoor Swimming Pool, along with many others. Due to the unpredictability of the weather some activities may not be offered.
For Ages 8-10
Ages 8-10 years old will receive basic (introductory) instruction in a number of lifetime sports.
For Ages 11-12
Ages 11 and 12 will receive intermediate instruction in lifetime sports with emphasis on outdoor adventure activities. Participants will be placed in the following age appropriate groups:
To keep the numbers at a low ratio of instructor to participant we limit enrollment to the first 150 registered participants. It is recommended that you pre-register. If the Academy is not full, registration will take place at the Looney Complex on the first day of camp.
