From the Center for Workforce Development, the Center for Franchise Development, and the Craig School of Business, to being the applied learning institution for the state of Missouri, it only makes sense that MoWest also hosts a business assistance center focused on growing entrepreneurial capacity, skills and success. Afterall, MoWest was already growing entrepreneurs internally, but now they are doing that externally as well! The Missouri SBDC office at MoWest is located inside Popplewell Hall, suite 208. The Missouri SBDC helps businesses in every stage. From concept to startup, growth to renewal, mature to succession, our business specialists are here to help you succeed throughout the lifecycle of your business. 

Business advisors use their expertise to help Missouri businesses with critical business development issues. Guidance addressing topics such as management, marketing and strategic planning is available for new and existing businesses. All one-on-one counseling is confidential.

Ms. Shelbie Wigington joined the Missouri SBDC network in January 2026 and comes with her own entrepreneurial experience of helping to start and expand a restaurant business from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar location, then on to a second location. She can identify with both start-up and existing business concerns. Shelbie is also an alumnus, earning both her B.S. in Business Administration and her MBA from MoWest.

Mrs. Rebecca Lobina joined the Missouri SBDC in 2007 and has worked with over a thousand businesses. She is known best for her work with finding financing for businesses, creating financial projections, and staying abreast of current small business regulations. Rebecca also serves as the Director of Workforce Development for MoWest since April 2025 where she continues her business assistance by curating and creating training opportunities for the regional workforce.
