R. Dan Boulware Convocation on Critical Issues
The annual R. Dan Boulware Convocation on Critical Issues started in 1993 as an overall commitment to offer enriching experiences to students while bringing together the University and community. Past Convocation speakers have included Colin Powell, Sam Donaldson, Newt Gingrich and many other notable public figures.
We are proud to be the summer training camp home of the Kansas City Chiefs. We invite you to enjoy the Chiefs while they are here. You can watch a training session and get autographs from the team. There are many opportunities available on campus for Chiefs fans during training camp!
From 1962 to 1981, Walter Cronkite reported the news on CBS. Chances are “the most trusted man in America” was a staple in your home. As a child or young adult, your memories of significant events in American history probably include Cronkite. Take a walk down memory lane at the Walter Cronkite Memorial and learn more about how Cronkite shaped the 20th century. Admission to the Memorial is free.
Cheer on the Griffons throughout the year at a variety of sporting events. Senior citizen discounts are available. Improvements to Spratt Memorial Stadium, including the addition of one of the largest video scoreboards in the NCAA, make the Griffons gameday experience unforgettable!

Explore the universe at the Bushman Planetarium. The planetarium features a Digistar 4 projection system; a dome that is slightly tilted, rather than directly overhead; and a 17-channel stereo sound system, making viewing a more comfortable, enjoyable experience. The Division of Student Affairs offers many cultural, social, and international programs that are free and open to the public. Past performances include Step Afrika, the Filharmonics a cappella group, comedians, hypnotists and more. Additionally, events like the International Fair and Light Up Western bring culture and spirit to campus and the community.
