Terra James ‘14 was recruited into Auburn University’s masters program immediately after graduating from Missouri Western with degrees in Psychology and Communication Studies. Auburn offered her  a full-ride scholarship and paid assistantship, thanks to contacts she made while presenting undergraduate research at a conference with her Missouri Western professors.

While she was nervous going to such a prestigious university for graduate school, she quickly discovered that Missouri Western had prepared her more than she could have imagined.  “I had an excellent knowledge base to draw from,” Terra said, “and I was successful because Missouri Western’s challenging course materials had given me what I needed to succeed at the graduate school level.”

Terra believes that her exceptional and affordable education at Missouri Western provided her the ability to achieve her goals at the graduate school level and beyond. “I found myself understanding advanced concepts, even when I noticed other graduate students from larger universities were struggling,” said Terra.

Terra is now a professor herself and attributes achieving her dreams to Missouri Western and its excellent faculty.
