Missouri Western’s second annual International Fair was yet another success! With a great turnout last year, it was a great move to do it again.

Held in the Fulkerson Center, Western students of numerous countries including the United States shared their different cultural backgrounds at the fair. Attendees were given presentations of all sorts of countries and loads of amazing food and cultural prizes!

“The food is always great at the international fair,” Western student Ricky Ward said.

Aside from the goodies, the fair also shared a great number of talent we have right here at Missouri Western. Students showcased two piano players, a ton of singers, dancers and more. However, it was acception not seeing someone on stage doing the “Juju on the beat” dance at this year’s fair because we saw every other dance from every other country.

Understanding different cultures is important especially in today’s world. With the media as our world’s biggest instigator, it’s a must for people to put aside the News Outlets and put on an events that promote unity.

We all know how powerful the media is to our society. The Outlet will get their ratings whether good or bad and of course stirring conflict is where media get the most through controversy. Missouri Western’s International Fair proved we’re just as powerful just from not paying attention to the news portion of media at all.

Whether producers of the fair knew it or not, their event steered attendees away from their phones. “I noticed I hadn’t touched my phone at all throughout the event,” Robert Spears said.

Witnessing the fair, it was a special moment to see everyone working together to make this event the best it could be. There probably wasn’t a single soul that didn’t notice the bond taking place at the event.

“Everyone welcomed everyone in open arms and worked together to make it happen. They need to keep doing this,” Western student Cameron Weaver said.

With hard times throughout the world, the international fair has proven to be the perfect event to bring us all together as one. Everyone contributing to the event did an outstanding job welcoming all attendants and making the event as cohesive as possible and what do you know; a great moment.
