Building Emergency Procedures
Missouri Western State University maintains building-level emergency procedures to support faculty, staff, students, and visitors in responding effectively during emergencies.
Building Emergency Procedures may include information such as:
- Evacuation routes and exit locations
- Fire alarm and emergency notification expectations
- Severe weather shelter areas
- Shelter-in-place considerations
- Assembly and accountability guidance
- Building-specific hazards or access concerns
While the University Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) provides institution-wide emergency response guidance, building-level procedures help ensure each facility has clear and practical emergency direction based on its layout and function.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to become familiar with the emergency procedures for the buildings where they work, teach, or frequently visit.
If you have questions or would like assistance developing building-specific emergency procedures, please contact the Office of Risk Management and Safety.
Building Coordinators
Missouri Western utilizes designated Building Coordinators to support emergency preparedness and response at the facility level. Building Coordinators play an important role during drills and emergencies by helping promote safe evacuation, reporting concerns, and assisting with coordination efforts as needed.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to become familiar with emergency procedures for the buildings where they work, teach, or frequently visit.
