A recognized international animator, Dr. Mohamed Ghazala, will present a lecture that is free and open to the public at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at Missouri Western State University. The presentation is part of his three-day visit today through Wednesday, which will include lectures in several art classes.

Dr. Ghazala is an assistant animation professor at Minia University in Egypt. He has lectured at several international fine arts and film institutes, and has served as a judge for numerous international animation festivals.

Dr. Ghazala is the founder and director of the International Animated Film Association in the African and Arab world, based in Egypt. He has directed and co-directed many award-winning films, including “Honyan’s Shoe,” which won the Animation Prize at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2010.

In 2011, Dr. Ghazala published “Animation in the Arab World,” a book based on Arab animation films and their evolution and influence since 1936. His mission is to promote Egyptian, Arab and African animations to universities and organizations on an international level through workshops, lectures and film festivals.
