Missouri Western State University department of music presents the Spring Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2618 Seneca Street, St. Joseph. The concert will feature University Men’s and Women’s Choruses as well as the Chamber Singers. The concert will feature folk tunes from multiple countries and sacred and secular music from the recent and ancient past.

The Women’s and Men’s Choruses will perform literature including “Loosin Yelav,” an Armenian folk song, “For Good” from the Broadway musical “Wicked,” Broadway hits from “Sweeney Todd” and popular tunes such as “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “My Girl.

The Chamber Singers will present music recently performed on their Kansas City- area tour as well as pieces performed at Heartland Health’s Celebration of Life. These include Norman Dello Joio’s “A Jubilant Song” with Ara Ju, instructor of music, on piano; and Eric Whitacre’s “Waternight,” written for 14 parts, and “How Can I Keep From Singing?”
