Major: History with Geography minor
In his senior year, Isaac Carter ’17 landed a unique internship with the St. Joseph, Missouri metropolitan planning organization. As a history and geography major, Isaac was thrilled to take what he had learned in the classroom and use it in the real world. He worked with the City of St. Joseph to create a series of interactive maps of St. Joseph and its infrastructure systems. The maps will be used to conduct analysis for city planning.
According to Isaac, one of the great aspects of geography is that it is interconnected with everything. “Geography is interdisciplinary,” states Isaac, “which means that it is an outlet to learn about a lot of different subjects.” Isaac believes that everything about his internship was rewarding, and that it has given him the opportunity to discover what he wants to accomplish in the future.
