Camp Information Summer 2025
Missouri Western State University and the Recreation Sports Management Department will provide opportunities for those who want to utilize their passion for Esports and gaming to promote personal growth and career development.
Esports is a new entertainment culture in our lives, especially for the MZ Generation (Millennia/Gen Z Generation). We try to find our comfort zone outside of school and work-related duties and Esports has fully served and provided our first activity as a “comfort zone activity.” In common, no mone ever pushes their children to play Esports; however, children naturally develop motivation and passion to play Esports with their peers.
Key reasons why people play Esports:
- Esports is a valuable gateway for human beings from their daily life, whether it be work or school. Having time for yourself is valuable for relaxing emotionally and physically.
- Esports is a way to gain social capital and develop friendships. Esports are team-based games requiring communication, patience, and leadership skills.
- Esports increases self-dedication. By default, Esports requires players to set goals and overcome missions without pressure or fear of real-life consequences because it is played in virtual reality.
With his previous experience, Dr. Daewon Yoon designed this camp uniquely with specific learning sessions in addition to video game time for kids to increase all the key beneficial factors mentioned above. The following sessions are learning sessions for the MWSU Esports camp:
- Fundamentals Learning for Game Development Software
- Streaming Techniques
- The Core Loop of Game Mechanics
- User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) / 2D & 3D Graphic Design for Games.
- Self-Defense (Experience of different realities – real life vs. virtual reality)
- Promoting self-confidence and physical capabilities in everyday life.
For Esports tournament aspects, to develop competition skills with the dedication of Esports Director Chance, they will provide campers with a tournament to increase their competition experience.
