The Graduate Certificate in Leadership Studies takes a multidisciplinary approach to leadership training in a variety of contexts in social life.

The program is offered 100% online. 

The origin of the program is in the social sciences, humanities, professional fields, and applied disciplines. It aims to prepare graduate students for governance, guidance, and directorship positions in various capacities in the labor force.

The Leadership Studies program is designed to yield informed advisors and policy makers, who:

  • can stay abreast of the demands of new technologies
  • are successful in navigating the challenges of an ever-changing work environment
  • lead employees toward satisfactory output and high performance
  • effectively manage and solve work related problems.

Admission Requirements

  • Qualified applicants will have earned an undergraduate bachelor’s (or master’s) degree from an accredited institution.

  • Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale

  • Transcripts of all previously completed university level work – both undergraduate and graduate, if applicable

Application Process

The following information must be complete before applications will be reviewed:

  1. Submit GradCAS Application and pay applicable fees.
  2. Request that official transcripts from all US institutions attended be sent to GradCAS:

  3. The following items may be necessary depending on your personal history, and should be uploaded under the Documents section above, if applicable to you.
  • Name Change – If you indicated a name change in your personal history, please provide a copy of official legal identification (such as a current driver’s license or passport) listed under “Other” in the Documents section above.
  • Military Service or Dependence – If you indicated you were a member of the military or a military dependent, please provide a copy of one of the following: military ID, Certificate of Eligibility (COE), or DD214 under “Military Papers” in the Documents Section above.
  • Permanent Residents must provide a copy of Permanent Resident ID card (AKA Green Card) under “Other” of the Documents section above.
  • International students may only enroll in this master’s degree program if they intend to complete all coursework from their home countries, since the program is 100% online.  International students ARE encouraged to apply!

Graduation Requirements

  1. Filing an approved Application for Graduation.
  2. Satisfactory completion of all required coursework as listed on the approved Program of Study.
  3. Earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, with no more than 6 credit hours of C in all required coursework.
