EXERCISE IS MEDICINE ON CAMPUS

Exercise is Medicine On Campus is a worldwide initiative that promotes physical activity on college campuses. With more than 220 registered campuses across the globe, Missouri Western is proud to be one of four institutions in Missouri currently participating.

At Missouri Western, this multidisciplinary initiative is led by students with support from faculty and staff in Health Professions, Recreation Services, Human Resources, the Student Health Center and the Counseling Center. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to participate.

Exercise is Medicine goals include:

  • Making movement a part of the daily campus culture
  • Assessing physical activity at every student health visit
  • Providing students with the tools necessary to strengthen healthy physical activity habits that can last a lifetime
  • Connecting university health care providers with university health fitness specialists to provide a referral system for exercise prescription.
