Missouri Western State University will officially kick off its Centennial Celebration and Centennial Capital Campaign with a special event featuring a multimedia piece produced by Quixotic of Kansas City at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 in the Potter Hall Theater on the Missouri Western campus. The event is free and open to the public, but because seating is limited reservations are required by e-mail at jstevens18@missouriwestern.edu or by calling 816-271-5670 by noon on Friday, Jan. 16.

“Please join us as we celebrate 100 years of transforming lives in St. Joseph, and look ahead to meeting the challenges of the next 100 years,” said Jerry Pickman, vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Missouri Western State University Foundation.

The performance by Quixotic will incorporate digital projection mapping with live music and dance to tell the story of Missouri Western from its start as St. Joseph Junior College in 1915 to the comprehensive university it is today.

A still from Quixotic’s digital projection features the original drawing of Missouri Western’s Griffon.

“The Quixotic performance will be one of the most spectacular things ever seen on our stage,” Pickman said. “People will be talking about this for a long time to come.”

The evening will also include the announcement of the public phase of the Centennial Capital Campaign, including the initial celebration goal and several large leadership gifts. The campaign is expected to be the largest in Missouri Western’s history.
