Western Playhouse, the summer theatre company at Missouri Western State University, will hold Equity and non-Equity principal auditions in Kansas City March 15 and in St. Joseph March 16. Actors can audition for two musicals – “The Music Man” and “Mother Divine.” At the same time, Missouri Western will conduct auditions for actors to portray legendary news anchor Walter Cronkite in the new live, multi-media performance “Cronkite.”

Auditions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Crown Center in Kansas City and Sunday, March 16 in the Potter Hall Theater on the Missouri Western campus in St. Joseph. Sign up for an audition time at www.westernplayhouse.com/auditions/.

Western Playhouse will produce the beloved Meredith Willson musical “The Music Man” June 20-28, with rehearsals starting June 2, and the new award-winning musical “Mother Divine” July 11-19, with rehearsals starting June 23. For both productions, Western Playhouse is seeking Equity or non-Equity actor-singers who can dance. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a light comedic monologue of a minute or less, and a musical solo that fits their voice type. Callbacks will be held the same day.

“Cronkite” is a continuing performance opportunity on an irregular schedule to coincide with guided tours of the Walter Cronkite Memorial on the Missouri Western campus in St. Joseph. Actors should resemble and be able to vocally recreate the voice of Walter Cronkite. Salary will match AEA, SAG-AFTRA scales for rehearsals and performances.
