Students from St. Joseph Central High School in St. Joseph and Parkview High School in Springfield, Mo., won the 2012 Missouri Entrepreneurship Challenge at Missouri Western State University on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

During the competition finals, teams from different high schools worked together to create a business plan for a new company. The business plan was then judged by a panel of business leaders. The students from Central and Parkview created a business plan for “Handy Andy,” a mobile phone repair business.

Winners were awarded $100 and scholarships worth $4,000 to Missouri Western’s Craig School of Business.

Members of the winning team from Central High School included Taranjit Sohal, Kailie Saverino, Reyhan Wilkinson, Nick Adams and Paige Shelter.  Their teacher is Lisa Beavers.

Members of the winning team from Parkview High School included Jahmella Williams, Makaylee Davis, Vanessa Perez, Jordan McDaniel and Peyton Houck. Their teacher is Cindy Shannon.

Twenty teams from around the state had qualified for the final round through an online round earlier this fall.
