The Department of Communication and Griffon Student Media offers students an opportunity to work on a live news broadcast as part of its Gold Friday programming.
Students are given the chance to learn all of the many roles in a television newsroom, including learning to operate the cameras, the teleprompter, the lighting, the microphones, and even train to be on-air talent!

Harry Loomis, convergent journalism major (class of ‘23), is the current sports reporter for the show, and he said “With Gold Fridays, we have been able to bring back Griffon Update, our own news show. I think I can speak for everyone involved with the show that we are extremely grateful for the opportunity, one that would not be possible without Gold Fridays.”
