March 31, 2026–Missouri Western State University and the City of St. Joseph have partnered to expand access to higher education for City employees and their families. Through MoWest’s Corporate Education Program, full-time City employees, along with their spouses and dependents, will have access to a 20 percent tuition discount for eligible undergraduate and graduate programs at MoWest.

“This opportunity supports employees who wish to further their education, develop new skills, or advance their careers while continuing to serve the community,” said Dawn Lanning, assistant city manager. “By working together to make higher education more accessible, the City and MoWest are helping build a stronger workforce, supporting lifelong learning, and creating opportunities that benefit both our employees and the community they serve.”

“MoWest could not do all that we do to serve the community without the ongoing support of the City of St. Joseph and its residents,” said Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, MoWest president. “The City helps us host numerous major events, supports our Center for Service, operates the Thomas Eagleton Indoor Pool, and most recently partnered with us to provide free city transit bus rides for our students, faculty and staff. We’re thrilled to provide greater access to educational opportunities to City employees and their families.”

Triumph Foods was previously announced as the first partner in the Corporate Education Program. MoWest is currently in discussions to provide tuition discounts to employees of other local businesses and organizations through the program.
