Jan. 28, 2019—The Department of Economics, Political Science and Sociology at Missouri Western State University will host a watch party for the 2020 State of the Union Address at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt 101. The event is free and open to the public.

The watch party will begin with Missouri Western political science faculty discussing the role of the State of the Union address in American politics and a conversation about what to expect, especially in the context of the recent impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Following President Trump’s speech and the Democratic response by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, faculty will answer questions from the audience on the context of the address, the politics of the event and its relation to the 2020 election cycles.
