The Jazz Program of the Missouri Western State University Department of Music will present its two instrumental jazz ensembles at the Fall Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 in the Potter Hall Theater. It is free and open to the public.

The Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Bob Long, will focus on presenting styles from South America, featuring original arrangements in the Bossa Nova style as well as arrangements of classics, such as Kenny Dorham’s “Blue Bossa.”

The Jazz Ensemble, also under the direction of Bob Long, will feature a wide variety of literature, ranging from classics from the Count Basie and Thad Jones/Mel Lewis libraries to newer contemporary literature by composers/arrangers such as Steve Wiest and Bob Mintzer. Soloists being featured with the Jazz Ensemble are senior music major Sky Lux on alto sax, senior music major Max Hudson on piano, and senior music major Caleb Fankhauser on drum set.
