The Chess Club at Missouri Western State University will host a tournament open to the general public at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Hoff Conference Rooms, Blum Student Union rooms 218-219. There is a $10 entry fee for non-members.

The tournament winner will receive a customized trophy made by club secretary/treasurer Jaylen Words, sophomore graphic design major from St. Joseph.

Words; club president Cecilia Tackett, freshman computer information systems major from Savannah, Missouri; and vice-president Ben Hart, sophomore graphic design major from Osborn, Missouri recently visited a fifth-grade classroom at Oak Grove Elementary in St. Joseph to teach the students how to play chess.
