Dr. Dennis Rogers leads a recent rehearsal for eXtreme Percussion.

The 14th annual eXtreme Percussion Show will entertain audiences with the rumble of drums and clanging of cymbals at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 in the Potter Hall Theater on the Missouri Western State University campus. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $5 for Missouri Western students with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the door beginning at 6:45 p.m.

eXtreme Percussion is a creatively produced and energetic show which showcases the percussion talents of students from Missouri Western and elsewhere in the region. Featured music this year includes a steel drum percussion ensemble, a large percussion ensemble and multiple drum set groups as well as a return visit by the Park Hill Percussion Ensemble directed by Brian Burlingame. Other performances include the MWSU Drumline, a unique performance with dazzling lighting effects and a highly energetic drum set solo accompanied by MWSU dancers.

eXtreme Percussion was founded and is directed by Dr. Dennis Rogers, director of percussion studies at Missouri Western. Dr. Rogers is retiring this year, so this year’s event will serve as a celebration of his commitment to the percussion program and his many contributions to Missouri Western.
