The Department of Theatre, Cinema and Dance at Missouri Western State University are holding open auditions for the upcoming production of “Godspell” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 in the Potter Hall Theater. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22. Sign up for auditions online at www.missouriwestern.edu/theatrecinema/auditions/.

Missouri Western music and theatre, cinema and dance students are required to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a contemporary Broadway or pop/rock song in the style of the show and a contemporary monologue. The time limit is 60 seconds for a song or monologue only, or 90 seconds of monologue and song.

Community members and non-majors are also encouraged to audition. They have the option to bring in a prepared piece as mentioned above, or a selection of pieces will be available from the show to sing with the accompanist.

“Godspell” is an ensemble show. Callbacks will consist of looking for a group of people who can work closely together to tell a story rather than looking at individual performances.

Dance callbacks will be immediately following the singing/monologue audition, with a brief time provided to change clothes. Be prepared to stay at the auditions for at least one hour.

“Godspell” will be the final production of the 2015-2016 Missouri Western Theatre Season. It will be staged April 8-16.
