The holiday season at Missouri Western State University has a new addition – the President’s Holiday Gala, a concert featuring music students and faculty, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 in the Fulkerson Center. The concert is open to the public, and admission is free with one canned food item to benefit Missouri Western’s Campus Cupboard.

“I have always loved music and appreciated how it enhanced my life,” said Dr. Robert Vartabedian, Missouri Western’s president. “So you can imagine my delight when I arrived here nearly eight years ago and encountered such a talented group of music faculty and students. I thought this Holiday Gala would be a great opportunity to show them off to the university and the community.”

The Gala will be a collage concert, featuring many different musical groups and styles in one big show.

“This will be a chance for our community to experience all of the department’s ensembles in one concert,” said Dr. Elise Helpworth, director of choral activities and organizer of the Gala. “I am thrilled four our department to showcase what Missouri Western has to offer. This will be one event you will not want to miss!”

The Campus Cupboard was established earlier this year by Missouri Western’s Rotaract Club, providing free food to students in need.
