Case Against 8The Center for Multicultural Education at Missouri Western State University is sponsoring a series of events in October in honor of LGBT History Month, an annual observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history and the history of the gay rights movement. All events are free and open to the public.

Drag Show, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, Fulkerson

The Drag Show will feature performers Dirty Dorothy, Adria Andrews, Vivian Versace, Karma Cassidy and Kyla Breeze. There will be information tables for LGBT-friendly organizations and churches as well as free HIV testing starting at 6 p.m. in the walkway of Fulkerson and Enright 216. All tips and proceeds go to The Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention resources to LGBT youth ages 13-24.

“The Case Against 8” is a documentary film offering a behind-the-scenes look inside the historic case to overturn California’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Come meet the first same-sex couple to receive a marriage license in Buchanan County while discussing what same-sex marriage means for St. Joseph and the U.S.
