Missouri Western State University is accepting applications for the next Student Governor.

The student governor serves as the student representative on the Board of Governors, as the voice of the students to the Board on critical issues. The governor also serves as an ex-officio member of the Missouri Western State University Student Government Association executive board, communicating to students what is happening on the Administrative level.

Applications are available in the Student Government Association office, Blum Union 217; the Student Governor’s office, Blum Union 204; the President’s Office, Popplewell Hall 218; or online at www.missouriwestern.edu/sga.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, October 30 to the Student Affairs Office, Blum Union 228.

A first round of on-campus interviews will be held the week of November 2-6, followed by a second round of interviews with the President. Missouri Western will submit three names to Gov. Jay Nixon, who may then interview the nominees in Jefferson City before sending an appointment to the Missouri Senate for confirmation.

Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average to apply, and must serve a full two-year term as governor.

The term of the current student governor, Lionel Attawia, expires in December.
