The Missouri Senate confirmed David Liechti’s nomination to the Missouri Western State University Board of Governors on May 1. The St. Joseph man will be sworn in at the board meeting at 1:30 p.m. May 22 in Blum Student Union, room 220.

Gov. Jay Nixon nominated Liechti to a term ending Oct. 29, 2019. Liechti is a managing member of the CPA firm, Liechti & Franken LLC. He served for eight years as a member of the Missouri State Board of Education. While on the state board, he also served on the Governmental Affairs Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Education.

Liechti has served on several St. Joseph-area boards, including Heartland Regional Medical Center, the St. Joseph Board of Education, and the St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce.

Liechti replaces Kylee Strough, who has served on the Board of Governors since 2008, including three years as board chair.

The Missouri Western State University Board of Governors establishes policies, by-laws, rules and regulations for its own government and for control and government of the University; to select, appoint, and remove a President of the University; to set admission standards; and to make decisions on financial matters.
