“Accent” is a 6-by-5 foot painting that is part of “Threshold,” an exhibition of work by adjunct art instructor Misha Kligman.

The Potter Gallery at Missouri Western State University will exhibit “Threshold,” large-scale paintings by Kansas City-based artist Misha Kligman, from Oct. 10 to Nov. 7. The gallery is located inside Potter Hall on the Missouri Western campus. It is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and admission is free.

Kligman is an adjunct art faculty member at Missouri Western. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University in Ohio and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kansas. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Midwest.

“The works in the Threshold are hopeful and unironic gestures,” Kligman wrote on his website, www.mishakligman.com. “They are hopeful in a sense that maybe a painting can be more than an object but a kind of place where the past and future collide, in the process revealing that which is most hidden – our present.”
