In honor of the Independence Day holiday, Missouri Western State University will be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4 and 5.

Dr. Robert Vartabedian, Missouri Western’s president, announced that campus would be closed July 5 in an e-mail to faculty and staff.

“I am very confident that in September we will be able to give you your 3% raise retroactively,” Dr. Vartabedian said in the e-mail. “In the meantime, we would like to give you an extra day off, this Friday, July 5, in appreciation of all that you do.”

The office of human resources will make the necessary adjustments for employees who have already submitted absence reports for July 5.

The Western Playhouse production of “Miss Saigon” will be performed as scheduled both July 4 and 5 in Potter Hall Theater. For more information, visit www.westernplayhouse.com.
