Missouri Western State University will host a conference on child abuse investigation on Wednesday and Thursday, April 17 and 18, in the Fulkerson Center.

The conference is for law enforcement officers and administrators, social workers, attorneys, educators and those employed in healthcare. The cost of the conference is $80. Missouri Western students may attend for free, or for $10 per day if buying lunch.

Dr. Rebecca Bailey, Terry Probyn and Jane Dickel, LCSW will conduct a special workshop at 1 p.m. on Thursday, presented by the JAYC Foundation. The topic will be on reacquainting law enforcement officers and employees with their culture and mission, with the goal of bringing compassion, joy and pride back into their work.

The conference is sponsored by the Missouri Western State University Regional Law Enforcement Academy, the department of criminal justice, legal studies, and social work, the department of nursing and allied health, and the Northwest Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center. Continuing education units and continuing legal education credits are available.
