Missouri Western State University student Jeremy Todd, senior graphic design major from Liberty, Mo., was recently awarded a Student Silver Addy at the 2013 Kansas City American Advertising Federation’s Addy Awards Ceremony.  The Addys are recognized as the highest honors in advertising and the Kansas City regional area is one of the largest regional Addy competitions in the country.

Todd’s award winning design was a multi-piece branding and packaging project titled “Duffle Tea.” The project included logo creation, business and identity system, packaging items and printed collateral.

“The packaging for this brand takes on the idea of travel by packing all of the necessities inside of a compact duffle bag,” Todd said. “Along with the tins of loose-leaf tea, the duffle bag also comes packed with a uniquely designed tea bag and packing instructions. In just a few short steps you are able to pick your destination, pack your bags, and escape with the tastes of Duffle Tea.”

Teresa Harris, professor of art, said Todd’s tea branding had all the elements of an award-winning project – unique concept, impeccable craftsmanship and design cohesion. “It was an exceptional piece, from concept to completion,” Harris said.

Other universities and colleges receiving awards included the University of Kansas, Stephens College and Avila University. Jurors for the student competition were Dustin Schirier from Barkley, Adam Seitz from DEG and Jessi Hamilton and Dave Gilbertson from MMGY.
