Missouri Western State University has announced a change in the leadership of its Craig School of Business and College of Professional Studies. Dr. Philip Nitse, who served as dean of the CSB since 2010 and interim dean of the CPS since 2011, has expressed his desire to return to the classroom and will join the Craig School of Business faculty next semester.

“We thank Philip for his service to Missouri Western and his efforts to maintain the high level of quality in both the Craig School of Business and the College of Professional Studies,” said Dr. Jeanne Daffron, Missouri Western’s provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Carol Roever will serve as interim dean of the Craig School of Business, Dr. Daffron said. Roever has been at Missouri Western since 1986. She was chair of the business department from 2006 to 2008, and then served as interim dean of the Craig School of Business from its creation in 2008 to Dr. Nitse’s arrival in 2010. She was honored several times for her teaching locally and nationally. Roever was instrumental in arranging the largest private donation in Missouri Western’s history, a $5.5 million gift from developer Steven L. Craig that established the business school. During her previous tenure as interim dean, the Craig School of Business achieved initial accreditation of its degree programs by AACSB International, the largest global accrediting body for business schools. Since her retirement in 2010, Roever has continued to serve as a consultant to the business school, with oversight of Missouri Western’s partnership with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

The provost’s office will provide leadership for the College of Professional Studies until an interim dean is named at a later date.
