The President’s Free Pancake Breakfast is one of the highlights of Family Weekend!

Missouri Western State University invites families of students, faculty and staff to celebrate Family Weekend Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14 and 15.

The fun begins with talented students competing in the Western Activities Council Talent Show at 7 p.m. Friday in Potter Hall Theater. Also Friday night at 7, Griffon volleyball will take on Missouri Southern in the Looney Complex.

Saturday begins with the President’s Free Pancake Brunch in Remington Hall from 10 to 11 a.m. Although there is no charge, reservations are requested by Friday, Sept. 7. Please email Isaiah Collier, director of student life, at icollier@missouriwestern.edu with the number of guests attending.

Also on Saturday, there will be tours of the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex leaving every 30 minutes from Remington Hall between 10 and 11:30 a.m. The Bushman Planetarium in Agenstein Hall will offer two free showings at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. From 11 to 1, families can get free pictures with Max the Griffon in Remington Hall, while just outside the building student organizations will have booths set up with a variety of family activities.

Griffon volleyball will also play Saturday at noon, taking on Emporia State in the Looney Complex.

Family Weekend will conclude with a free tailgate party in the parking lot in front of Baker Family Fitness Center at 4 p.m., followed by the Griffon football game against Nebraska-Kearney at 6 p.m. in Spratt Stadium. The game also marks military appreciation day: military equipment will be on display before the game and the Griffons will wear special black-and-gold camouflage jerseys.
